RS Admission Requirements

 


Who may be admitted?

1.

Mentally handicapped patients referred by any of the following:

 

National Center for Mental Health (NCMH)

 

 PMHA Clinic

 

Government agencies (DSWD)

 

Private psychiatrists, hospitals with psychiatric wards

2.

An adolescent or an adult with:

Behavioral and Emotional Problem

Depression

Manic-Depressive Disorder

Personality Disorder

Schizophrenia/Psychosis

Down Syndrome

Mild Autism

Mild Cerebral Palsy

Mild to Moderate Mental Retardation

Attention Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder 

3.

Out-of-school youths (OSY) for purely vocational training and buffer groups


Eligibility for Admission

1.

The individual has had a psychiatric illness and/or hospitalization. But prior to referral to the center, such individual must have shown some emotional stability or free from acute disabling psychiatric symptoms.

2.

The individual must be between 18-50 years old.  He may be referred by a psychiatrist or self-referred.

3.

The individual must be physically healthy.

 

No contagious disease

No major physical handicap or deformity

No disturbing organic brain syndrome symptoms

4.

The individual must have ability to learn and be trained.

5.

The individual must be motivated and willing to participate in prescribed activities.

6.

The individual must live in the Metro Manila area.


Admission Procedure

1.

 The individual who wishes to avail of the services of the Rehabilitation Work Center must bring with him his clinical abstract and psychological report.  This includes diagnosis, condition during the time of referral, personal history, course in the hospital and present condition.

2.

Applicants together with relatives will be acquainted with the Rehabilitation Services- its location, operational rules and regulations prior to the start of a two-week trial period.

3.

After the intake interview, the social worker will then refer the client to the occupational therapist for assessment of his vocational interest, skills and potentials.

4.

After passing the initial screening, a two-week probation period will be given him after which evaluation will be made to decide whether the client will be a regular consumer or not.
